CRYSTALLINE SILICA FOR DRY-MIX TILE SYSTEMS
A mineral filler for tile adhesives, cementitious grouts and controlled joint-texture formulations.
Product Overview
Changtong crystalline silica powder is produced from selected natural quartz through controlled crushing, grinding, classification and screening. It is designed for formulators who need a consistent mineral component in tile adhesive and grout systems, while keeping final grade selection tied to the customer’s binder, polymer, sand blend and curing process.
The powder can contribute to mineral packing, dry-mix body and joint texture. It is not a substitute for cement, polymer powder, hydrated lime or a complete aggregate blend. The suitable grade should be confirmed against the current technical data sheet, certificate of analysis and the customer’s own application trial.

| Item | Changtong supply basis | What the buyer should verify |
|---|---|---|
| Material identity | Natural quartz-derived crystalline silica powder | Compatibility with the selected cementitious formulation |
| Particle size | Grade-specific mesh and PSD supplied by confirmation | Residue, D-values, fineness and blend contribution |
| Chemistry | Batch values reported on the applicable COA | SiO₂, Fe₂O₃, moisture and any project-specific limits |
| Handling | Dry mineral powder in export-ready packing | Storage humidity, dosing method and dust-control procedure |
Applications in Tile Adhesives and Grouts
Cement-Based Tile Adhesive
Use as a controlled mineral fraction in dry-mix systems where packing, workability and cured texture must be balanced with cement, polymer and other aggregates.
Cementitious Tile Grout
Evaluate the powder with the selected cement, pigment, water-retention additive and sand blend to control joint appearance and application feel.
Stone and Ceramic Installation
Screen the grade against the substrate, tile format, joint width, curing conditions and required adhesion or abrasion performance.
How to Select a Suitable Grade
- Define the formulation role. Decide whether the powder is being used for packing, texture, mineral balance or a defined particle-size fraction.
- Compare the PSD with the existing aggregate blend. A finer powder is not automatically better; excessive fines can change water demand and workability.
- Check chemistry and moisture. Use the applicable Changtong COA and agree the test method before comparing suppliers.
- Run a controlled trial. Keep cement, polymer, water ratio, additives, mixing time and curing conditions stable while comparing grades.

Is this product the same as precipitated or fumed silica?
No. This product is crystalline silica powder derived from natural quartz. It should not be treated as precipitated silica or fumed silica.
Can one grade fit every tile adhesive?
No. Grade selection depends on the cement, polymer, aggregate blend, water demand, application method and required cured performance.
What information should be sent for a quotation?
Provide the intended application, target mesh or PSD, chemistry limits, trial quantity, packing preference and destination country.
